Warna-Warni Musim Semi di Korea Selatan

$

Yeouido Park, Best Place to See Cherry Blossoms in Seoul

It was really my first time experience seeing the cherry blossoms, i know it's kinda surprising since i have been known as a travel blogger who should experience things more than others. Well, whatever it is, surprising or not i just want to share how excited i was seeing the cherry blossoms everywhere in every side of South Korea. Lucky me, that was April, a good month to experience spring season in South Korea. Once again thank's to Samsung Asia for this #NXTraveller opportunity.

Five hours flight journey with Korean Air, It was 8.00 am, i arrived in Incheon International Airport, we were picked up by one of Samsung Korea officers. Spring season for not so-much spring weather as i still need to covering my body with 2 or 3 layers. There were some locals holding pro cameras with very big lenses like those which used by sport photographers seen sitting on the back of window glasses. All of them were focus on one object, i don't know who is he. But i guessed he is a Korean Pop Star. A beautiful boy typical lookalike.

Got the room in Intercontinental Hotel, Seoul. We directly went to the first destination to see the Cherry Blossoms. I was not really sure it was such a luck or not when i heard there was a flower festival in Yeouido Park. I should be happy because there would be more and more beautiful flowers existed, and yes they were there, the flowers. I was pretty excited walking through the path which framed by big cherry blossoms trees. There was sometimes a wind breeze which causing the cherry blossoms strands falling and flying. A very romantic couple was seen arguing about the things, another one was seen hugging each other tenderly. There was also young parents with their cute korean kid playing hide and seek. A beautiful Korean girl like that one on the Korea Drama were seen paddling her bike with the basket full of flower bouquet, seems like she just had a good flowers shopping day.

Beautiful moments i have enjoyed, except for the matters like due to a festival, it turned out to be crowded. There were some stages along the way, also some food stalls with a temporary tents existed, and absolutely the tourists. I was trying to put myself in a positive mind like yeah it was a festival, you had to be happy having this moment, it was rare, maybe only once or twice in a year. I was arguing my self like i used to do "come on kadek, You now can see so many kinds of Korean type in this crowded place, those one whom you might never experience later, so cheer up now !"
I seceded myself out of the group, was trying to get the excitement of seeing cherry blossoms. Then i found a street musician playing guitar instrument under the cherry blossoms tree. He was suddenly became the centre of attention. Big applauses were given to his good skill of playing guitar. The music was really good, but i decided to go out of the throng of people after took a portrait of him. Funny, i choose to sit in pedestrian and play with a pile of remnant cherry blossoms. I grabbed them and threw them apart in order to get the romantic feel of windblown cherry blossoms. I don't think Korea is a romantic place like it used to be called without the cherry blossoms were falling through my face, too romantic to be true.

One Day Trip in Nami Island, South Korea

I honestly did not browse much like i used to do before every trip. Short story, this trip was held when i was in the middle of hectic working time in my office. Easy to say, i was like too busy to do other things beside of my main job in office. And it caused, i didn't have any enough clue in this Korea Trip like i cannot imagine how the Nami Island looks like or feel like would be. Yes i heard a lot about this island, but all i know is just Nami Island, a place where the Winter Sonata Korea Drama was filmed.
Now the question is, have you watched this movie ? absolutely yes i have, but it was taken during the winter season, right ? oh, am i right ? ok well, i didn't watch the full movie, i was falling asleep in the first 30 minutes the movie was playing, and never complete it until now. Ok, let's change the question, is this island really as beautiful as it is ? You will never know if you have never been there. And again luckily, i have. I won't share to you whether it is the true beauty or not, but i can share to you how was it, so you can get your own expectations :)

Called an island, it needs to take a ferry to reach the island. Apparently it will take about 1 hour 30 minutes from Seoul to Nami Island. Some public transportations are also provided by government, though there are no direct transportation available. Yes, the journey from Myeongdong to Nami Island is not straight forward, either by train or by bus, but it is definitely worth it once you are there.
I departed from the hotel in early morning, and reached the island before lunch time. The weather felt so cold, the sun also did not appear for the whole day, it was raining all over the day. I walked at a slow pace while holding an umbrella to the locket. The ticket includes the ferry and also the entry visa for the Nami island. We got into the ferry, those pretty excited passengers are almost foreigners. For only 10 minutes ride, we already arrived at the gate of Nami Island. Everyone went straight to the directions which could be found in 50 meters away from the main gate. And again, i segregated myself out of the group, now for only a cup of chocolate, coffee or a slice of cake. I missed the breakfast in the hotel, the hunger unconditionally made me feeling grumpy.
It was getting colder, and there was no cafe or coffee shop found, there was only mini mart existed on the corner. I went inside and got my hot chocolate by myself. Holding an umbrella, a cup of hot chocolate and two cameras, i was pretty sure i walked much slower than before while the rain was getting heavier which means i don't have any option without wearing that plastic raincoat to cover my clothes.
A special feature of Nami Island is that there are no telephone poles. This is because all electric wires were built underground to keep the natural feeling of the landscape. I walked the tree-lined paths where some of the most memorable scenes in the famous Korean television drama Winter Sonata were filmed. These tree-lined paths bring out a good perspective angle on the camera frame. I could not stop taking picture every time due to this very beautiful path.
Out of the main path, there are yards with chestnut trees and poplar trees. There are also some benches which might be fully sat if it wasn't raining. After walking through the path for 2 km, you'll find the most beautiful part of Nami island. The taller pines tree line were amazingly perceived, they are much more beautifully structured. This is like a heaven place for photography enthusiasts where they can find a very good composition of people in between those very huge pine trees.
Well, i can give you some tips for taking photo in this kind of landscape place :
1. Do a half squat to get the taller perspectives of the trees.
2. Position your camera in front your chest
3. Wait for the moment when object/objects are walking or standing on the centre of the aisle, it will give a good composition for the frame.
4. Use the grid facility on your camera LCD, look the composition, is it already looks straight ? make sure you don't have to straighten the angle once it done.
5. capture the photo. and taraaa !!
Six celsius degree, the cold weather made me feel hungry again, thankfully i finally found the cafe ! The shop could not be seen very well because there were some people blocking the shopfront. I came closer and saw the waitress served something like cake. It has round shape and was processed frying and baked. I really didn't care how it would taste be, i just needed some foods to relieve my hunger. So i bought it, it felt so hot at the first bites. I asked my korean friend, she said its name is hotteok. "is it only can be found in nami island?" i asked her. "No it can be easily found everywhere. But yes this cake usually be consumed in a cold weather". Ah i see, that's why this tasted so good.

So, let's share your thoughts about this place, do my stories above as suit as what you expect ?

How to Get the E-Tourist Visa India Granted

$

0
Just landed in Kuala Lumpur International Airport and directly went to an airline ticket counter (ok let's called it X Airline)
Airline officer : sorry, you cannot buy the ticket to India without having a visa.
Me : oh, i'm going to have a visa on arrival at the airport
Airline Officer : i'm sorry madam, but visa on arrival is no longer existed. Now it changes to E-Tourist Visa which you have to apply online and it takes several days to come out.
Me : what ? i don't even know about that, could you give me more details
Airline Officer : sorry, i have to do some services, you can go to their website

Ok, first of all, that was my first time experience planning a trip without having a ticket. Long short story, India wasn't really my main destination. I have a ticket to Chengdu, China and planned to go overland through Tibet, Nepal, India. So yeah i had 1 departed ticket to Chengdu, and 1 ticket back to Indonesia from Kolkata, India. Surprisingly, just one day before my flight, i received an email from the agent that i hired for 7 days Tibet - Everest Base Camp - Nepal tour (due to a government regulation, in Tibet you aren't allowed to travel without hire a travel agent). We have contacted each other for like 5 months before anyway, and it all went facile before the Nepal earthquake happened. The Nepal earthquake was happened just 1 month before our date trip. I pretty much worried about my itinerary, because i heard some news stating due to a bad damage, the Nepal border between Tibet was closed for at least 5 months until 1 year. I then ensured it to my travel agent in Tibet, they said yes it's true hence i have to remove Nepal Border. So yeah we wouldn't going to cross the Tibet-Nepal Border but we still can go to Everest Base Camp, because its status those days was still safe for tourists.
Sadly, that means i have to cancel my India trip too, because there is only one border to India and it goes from Nepal. And i can't go to Nepal because the border was closed instead i have to fly and it's not possible because the airplane ticket price was frustrated (above USD 400 for one way). So i changed the route. One reason why i was still excited about this trip is because my travel agent said The Everest Basecamp was not affected. Hell yeah, that is my main destination of the trip anyway. Just like i stated above, bad dream happened just one day before my flight. When everything was ready, the China Visa, Tibet Permit, and bla bla bla. I received the email explaining due to the aftershock of Nepal, The Everest Base Camp was closed for Tourists. I didn't know what to say, i was speechless, my body suddenly turned into languid and yeah i got a little mad. So i hardly have to decide that i canceled the Tibet Trip and determined myself to go to India without having a ticket to India and just know about the new regulation of E-Tourist Visa India when i already was in Malasyia. This is the first chapter of drama started.

So, that day i directly visited the website and found how to get it. The requirement said it will take min 72 hours to process. Hell yeah, no choice unless i have to wait, so i planned to go around Malasyia until the e-tourist visa was granted. Well, actually there are two ways to get the India Visa for Indonesian. First, you can apply a tourist visa in India Embassy in Indonesia (your native country) and second is do apply a E-Tourist Visa like i did.

So these are some ways how to get the E-Tourist Visa India :

2. There you can find all of the requirements of applicant clearly. The process itself will take like this
3. After you click the e-tourist visa application button, the first page will appear is like this
4. Next step is fill the form regarding your identity card
5. On the third page you have to fill contact that can be contacted for your emergency
6. On the next page, you have to fill your indian's reference contact, and uploading the visa photo. Please do follow these requirements of the photo :
- Format - JPEG
- Min size 10 kb and max size 100 kb
- The height and width of the photo must be equal
- photo should prsent full face, front view, eyes open and without glasses
- background should be plain, i prefer you guys choose the white background
- without borders
7. After uploading the photo, you have to upload the scan passport, passport document requirements please see below :
- PDF format
- min size 10kb, max size 300kb
- photo page of passport uploaded should be of the same passport whose details are provided in passport detail section
8. After all the form was finished, you will be given a page of your details, including your uploaded photo.
9. After click the continue button, you will get your application ID and asked to pay now or pay later. If you choose apply now it will directly connect to a paying secure page. Whereas if you choose pay later, just make sure you keep your application id to enter the payment page site later.
10. It will cost USD 60 for single entry for 30 days of staying. And it only accept credit card payment method. Once the paid was processed, you will get the notification via email, please notes either your e-visa application was granted or rejected, the money that was deposited will be not refunded.
11. The process will take a min 72 hours and max 1 week and they will send a visa through your email. Lucky me, it only took 24 hours to finish. It was quite surprising though, so i didn't need to wait for the next 3 days more.
12. If you already get the visa, you'd better print it out, because i did not print it and it caused the indian immigration officer got infuriated.
13. The next step after seeing your visa was granted is buying the airplane ticket. Make sure this e-tourist visa is only valid for entry through 9 designated airports ; Bengaluru, chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Mumbai & Trivandum. However, the foreigner can take exit from any the authorized Immigration Check Post in India.

So if i am asked which one is easier applying the e-tourist visa or applying in your home country. I might say this e-tourist visa is much easier, because if i apply in India Embassy in Indonesia (my home country), the requirements are too much, like we have to print out the itineray, print out the tickets, prove the bank deposit balance, thought it cost a little cheaper. One good thing of this online visa is, i don't need to come to the embassy, i can apply it wherever i am. But, yes the key to success of applying the e-visa is make sure you have submitted the correct datas and all are coherent, do not hurry, just calm down, read and fill the form clearly. Because if it's rejected, you will never know the reason why.

So please read the requirements and regulations on the website perfectly https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html. Good luck !

If there is any question, please fill the comment coloumn below.

6 Facts About India Train

Welcome to India !

After 4,5 hours flight journey i finally Landed in Kolkata International Airport. Firstly, let me introduce my only traveling partner in India, his name is Ucup. So, from now on the journey would be covered by the two of us. We arrived in Kolkata at early morning, well yeah i did not know what time actually it was. My handphone battery was die and so did Ucup's. We didn't have watch, so we just wondered what time it was by guessing the colour of the sky. BLANK, is the word which exactly best fit my feeling on the first day arrival in India. I lost my India Lonely Planet book. No, it wasn't stolen, i just  forgot where the last time i put it. So here the next drama started. We got no clue, we didn't have any internet connection to browsing while looking for a wi-fi connection in India is such a sucks, buying a local sim card is impossible, since it needs like 3-4 days to be activated, and the worst thing was we didn't know where to go...Haaa !
How about the tourism centre ? it was closed, all of them were closed. Because you know what time it was ? it was 3.00 AM in the morning. I finally knew it after asked an Indian guy who sat next to me while waiting his family. "Where are you going ?" asked that guy. We don't know, we just arrived, and we don't know where to go, well actually i am gonna follow what my lonely planet book said, but since i just knew that it was lost, so we got confused i answered.

Good information i got from him, there are 3 kind alternatives for dumb people like us who don't know what to do after arriving at the airport.

1. Go to the prepaid Taxi booth counter, it is the safest thing you can do. Do not get ride of meter taxi.
2. There is an India railway reservation ticket counter in arrival terminal. If you wanna continue by taking a train, this could be a good solution. Make sure you don't get out of the building before knowing what to do. Because once you get out of building, you will not be allowed to get inside of the building even for the departure area, unless you have ticket and it should be 3 hours before departed.

3. Wait until the sunrise, then go explore the city. Do not ever going on the night, it is really dangerous.
Long short story, i finally chose the prepaid taxi and asked the driver to go to Travel agent to buy the train ticket from Kolkata to Agra. I got the sleeper class and it cost 1300 rps for one way ticket. The train would departed at 17.00 pm and it would took 25 hours journey. So yeah, that was my first time experience in India Train. From all the india train experiences, i could get some facts about India Train that i purposeful or unaccidently found.

So here 6 facts about India Train :

1. Online ticket/ Travel Agent/ Locket counter/
There are 3 ways of buying india train ticket
- Online ticket
The online webpage is owned by official India Government. http://www.indianrail.gov.in. There, you can find schedule, ticket price, seat availability and reservation form. One thing you should be aware of booking via online, you have to sign up first and be a member, then you have to put a local's phone number for verifying your membership. Though the vantage you will get is they are all on the fix price, there is no commission added. There is also online reservation provided by private company which has a easy and user friendly interface http://www.cleartrip.com
- Travel Agent
Buying a train ticket in travel agent is another solution. There are so many travel agent counters available in India, and the buying process is so fast and easy. Though, you have to pay a little more for company's commission. It was a good option for me since one of my problems why i couldn't buy a ticket via online is i cannot verified my account because i don't have any local number for reference.
- Locket Counter
Ok, this is the last choice, please do not take this option unless you are in emergency. Well, nothing is wrong about buying ticket on the spot. But most of the time, the tickets are sold out, and there will be only no-seat tickets left. It means you will get the general coach ticket where there is no seat provided.

2. AC/Non-AC
First question that will be asked by the officer when you buy a ticket is "do you want AC or Non-AC ?"
For the ticket from Kolkata to Agra in AC class cost around rps 1600 and for the Non-AC sleeper cost around rps 900. The AC class is more expensive but i bet it will be worth it as i have experienced the Non-AC one, and it was definitely stressful. Staying in a non-ac coach train in 40 celsius degree of India for 25 hours journey was really a bad decision.
3. Train Coach Type
The train itself mostly was divided into 4 coaches, whereas the most popular is non-ac sleeper class due to its affordable price yet still comfortable.
- AC 2 tier class
- AC 3 tier class
- Non-AC Sleeper Class
- General Coach (sitting class)

4. Beggar/Hawkers
If you choose the non-ac class, you will find so many beggars and hawkers sell some meals and drinks. If you want to taste the real of India, you'd better choose this option. Because, instead of annoying, these unlucky people made the journey full of unique experiences.

5. Long Time Journey
Well, i am not really sure, but i just feel all the railway journey i've join in India took a lot of times. For example like, from Kolkata to Agra which took 25 hours. I don't know either the long distance between one city to another or the under standard speed of the train. Ah yeah, maybe the not-on time schedule could be involved as the reason why it never match to the timeline should be.

6. Sleeping is a Common Activity
25 hours inside the train where AC is not provided. Can you imagine how does it feel ? And oh in 40 celsius degree. It becomes one of the most frustrating moments in my India journey. It was very hot since due to what local said i was coming in the peak season of summer, so it might be the hottest weather that India has. Alright, i went to the wash-hand stand like a lot in a day, just to wet my skin, though the hot weather will make it dry in less than a minute afterward. Sleeping may be the only way solution to kill the times and i got these different types of Indian while sleeping.

Sssst...they were all candid, if you find yours on some photos i uploaded below, i apologize for not asking permition taking your photograph while sleeping.

Labuan Cermin Lake, Feel the Crystal Clear Two-Flavor Lake

So, yeah i am writing here after my third times visit to Labuan cermin has just finished 4 days ago. Third times is not really a little amount for a place where could be reached for more than 2305 km from Jakarta. Well, i honestly have to say that i fall in love with this place. Labuan cermin Lake is located in Biduk Biduk Region, Berau, East Borneo. Though everyone knows about this magical beautiful lake, but only some of them decide to go there, since it is quite hard to reach this place. No, it's not hard because we have to do some tracking for hours or riding a motor trails to get there, it's more because 6-8 hours will be spent from Berau Airport to Biduk Biduk Region and vice versa. For sure, it will be first problem for working tourists who only have free time on weekend.
Labuan Cermin, East Borneo
The road from Berau to biduk biduk would become your boring overland journey ever due to the winding and bumpy road with lack or almost no view you will experience. The prefect time to starting this journey is no more that 03.00 pm, that's the perfect time i think, so you wouldn't arrive too late. If The overnight journey is too dark to see and feel the fresh air of biduk-biduk area, then your morning would be welcome by a calm atmosphere with straight tall coconut trees line up along the road and the clear blue sky combining the turquoise blue water on the coast.
Welcome sign board in Labuan Cermin
Where To Stay in Labuan Cermin
Biduk-biduk area is a remote area, so do not expect of getting a luxurious accommodation to stay. There are only a few proper home-stays or inns, some of them are Penginapan Mayang Sari, Selvia Inn. But if you want to have the unique experience, staying at local houses is probably will be the good option like what i did. I was staying at one of local houses, the family was really nice, they also cooked me and my friends for lunch and dinner, and it was the best food i have ever eaten when i was in Borneo.
wooden boat which will take you to Labuan Cermin
How To Get To Labuan Cermin
Either the local houses or home stays are all located only 10 minutes driving to Labuan Cermin. You can rent a bicycle or motorbike which rented by the home stays. Once you arrive, you will be greeted by "Welcome to Labuan Cermin" sign board and the tosca water for sure. Go to the ticket counter and pay for IDR 100.000/ boat to reach the lake. It only took 5 minutes to arrive, and do not forget to ask the pick up time to your helmsman.

Tourists were heading to the pier
Best Time To Labuan Cermin
1. Clock Time
First of all, Since i have been there for three times, so i have experience how it looks in every hours.
- 01.00 pm - 04.00 pm
I woke up too late that morning so i was going there not at the best time. I was waiting for the shadow for the boat looked like floating on the water, but it didn't come up. The water colour was also tosca instead of blue. The locals said, i should come back tomorrow at 10.00 am- 12.00 am to get it.
- 10.00 am - 02.00 pm
So the day after, i came again. The locals said that's the best time to see the clear blue water because the sun light that time are perfectly shine through the water.
Look at these two different photos which were taken during those times, just trying to comparing the water color to you guys. ciaooo.
Labuan Cermin at 02.00pm
Labuan Cermin at 11.00 am
2. Weekdays or weekend ?
Second, it might be not acceptable because i suggest you to not going on the weekend. I was going both on the weekend and weekdays. Labuan Cermin is a place which is well-enjoyed in a calm atmosphere. The sound of birds singing and the wind breeze through the forest were perfectly the best companion of the clear blue water. Just trying to convinince you why you should not go on the weekend, first reason is there will be so many local tourists going there, they are almost villagers nearby who (i am sorry i have to say this) mostly never see tourists coming from big city like Jakarta, they dress more like going for a picnic complete with foods on their baskets. Second, for them looking a woman wearing bikini is not a common thing, they will tease her, shouting and even asking to take a photo with this girl. You will probably think twice to wear bikini that time ladies ! The last reason is, due to the plenty visitors on the weekend, the boat would come more often which make the watter less clear and become turbid. So, have you decide your visit time ?
On my third visit, seems like the locals around labuan cermin already know me well. One helmsman remember my name and asking me to going around the lake with the boat like i used to do before.

Underwater Labuan Cermin
It's still amazing for me to experience the fresh water on the surface and salt water 2 metres deeper. I was also wondering how it could be happened. Even without thinking logically, this phenomenon was already stated on moslem holy book, and of course on others religion's book too.

"Dan Dialah yang membiarkan dua laut mengalir (berdampingan); yang ini tawar dan segar dan yang lain sangat asin lagi pahit; dan Dia Jadikan antara keduanya dinding dan barat yang tidak tembus.'' Al-Furqan [25] ayat 53

"And He let two seas to flow (side by side); they are fresh water and salty water; And He magically make the barrier to separate them''.  Al-Furqan [25] ayat 53
On the depth of 3 metre on Labuan Cermin
it was the real fresh water on the surface, and its getting blue and more blue on the deeper. I was trying to swim deeper to feel the salty water, and it was proven. There was like a blur barrier between the fresh and salty water, but they were still separated. Labuan Cermin itself is kind of a swamp, so there are some trunks inside the water, but those what make this place more iconic.
That trunk makes Labuan Cermin more iconic.
For people who cannot swim, you guys are absolutely still can enjoy the Labuan Cermin, because there are swimming bans and life jackets rented on the pier. But, it will be more well-experienced if you can feel those magical fresh water which flows into the seawater trapped in the lake.
This is when i experinced the salty water of Labuan Cermin
I spent two weeks to enjoying the beauty of East Borneo, Indonesia. stingless jellyfish in Kakaban Island
If you guys haven't know before, these islands were located in Derawan Archipelago. Each island could be reached for only 1 hour between one to another. So, i am gonna starting with my first visit in Derawan. It was this year, Mei 2015 and yes i was late. I came when everything has changed or i might put too high expectation for it. I thought Derawan would be a lovely island with the clear blue water where i could find turtle swimming here and there. But i was wrong. My friend who came 2 years ago said now Derawan has changed, it was like what i thought before, but now it turn out to be more commercial he said. Since the big increasing number of tourists, the locals take this advantage by build more and more home stays. Sadly, the high demand of staying in overwater bungalows growing up as big as the development. The local residents build more and more overwater bungalows which are going further away of the coast and almost reach the sea each day.
Leaving Maratua Island
Derawan Island
It becomes even more sadder when seeing so many household waste floating on the water and knowing that the owner (which mostly the locals) just let them flow in the sea and pretending to not responsible of them. I once talked with the local asking how this could be happened, and he answered that it's true, Derawan doesn't has the solution about waste and he really hopes it could be solved soon. Instead of those minus points i mentioned above, Derawan is still visited by tourists. The tourists or trip planners usually stay in Derawan before going for island hopping. Derawan is the only island where kind of home stays could be found among other island is the cause.

Sangalaki Island/Manta Point
So if you already choose to start from Derawan Island, the best route for the next destination is going to Sangalaki afterwards. It will take 1 hour to get this place. Sangalaki or best known as the manta point of Derawan archipelago. This island is famous for its manta rays. I were told that it used to be black mantas, but that's changed. You can still see some but it is rarer now.
Sangalaki Pier
way to sangalaki beach
On my two times visit of sangalaki island, it's quite easy to find them as they mostly swim on the surface. But, they will timidly swim down deeper if your boat gets closer. Manta rays used to be found in big waves area. So, if you are not that good at swimming, you'd better stay on the boat and watching the mantas from the deck. Because, it's quite harmful if you force yourself to get closer to them by knowing your inability of swimming.
Manta ray was swimming on the surface in Sangalaki
Kakaban Island
One popular thing of Kakaban Island is its famous lake. It protects many species and is considered for UNESCO nomination as a world heritage site (because of endemic jellyfish). Kakaban island is well known as a place where we can swim with millions of jellyfish without sting. There are only 3 places to see this in this world; Kakaban in Indonesia, Togean in Indonesia too and Rock Island in Mickronesia. But Kakaban is the place with that many species of stingless jellyfish.
Kakaban Lake from the top
Wooden Step to reach Kakaban Lake
Once in Kakaban, you will be welcomed by a gate and also the ticket counter. You need to pay for IDR20.000/person to go inside. It needs 10 minutes walk through the wooden step to reach the lake. Before start swimming with the jelly, you'd better know about these
Before swimming on Kakaban Lake
Stingless jellyfish in kakaban
3 things you should know before swimming in kakaban lake :
1. Don't bring your fins (only mask and snorkel)
2. The best time to get the millions floating jellyfish is around 12.00 - 14.00
3. Avoid to putting your sunscreen before you swim with the jellyfish, it will harm and pollute the jellyfish.
4. Don't hesitate to go further into the lake to be surrounded by the jellyfish
5. When you're done, out of the lake, kakaban island is also consisted by beautiful coral and blue water to be explored. Make sure you do snorkeling around the pier.
The jelly fish swim following the sun light

Haji Mangku Cave
One destination that also you don't have to be missed. This cave is very near with kakaban lake, only 15 minutes away by speed boat. Though this cave is not quite popular than the others, but i bet It would be one place which make your adrenaline going up of all other destination. Yes, it's a cave, and it's located inside the forest, so after get out of the boat, you have to walk in rocky, and slippery land to reach the cave during 5 minutes. Once you are here you will be welcomed by a clear blue water which is 7 meter down of the surface.
Haji Mangku Cave
The popular activity is jump from the land to the water (it's 7 meter height). It's still funny to see people who afraid of height and took a lot of times thinking to jump (though they already ready to jump from the edge), sometimes they stepped back and shout so loudly to make their fear disappear. For me, it was such addictive, even i jumped for 3 times there. I once jumped from the 15 meter height to the sea when i was in Mandeh Island, West Sumatra. Believe it or not, it now becomes my fears of height released. haha.
That blue water in Haji Mangku Cave
Best times to go to Haji Mangku
1. The sun light is best shine the blue water at 11.00-13.00 but sad to say in this times, due to the low tide, the boat cannot be parked so close to the walk starting point which means you have to walk further to reach the cave (about 15 minutes away).
2. So, if you don't wanna walk that far, you'd better come between 15.00-17.00, you just need to walk for 5 minutes. But the negative thing, you cannot see the sun flare effect which makes water looks so bright.

Maratua Island
Still my favorite place of others, This island is home of a beautiful notorious white sand beaches of the Berau Islands, and also home to the turquoise blue sea. I could say it looks like Maldives version of Indonesia. The water is perfectly blue blend with the white sand texture. This is the best spot for taking picture or playing with the water, because there is no coral reef near the port. So it's only the sand and the water.
Snorkeling time in Maratua Island
Look at that sandy beach blending with the clear blue water
Best spot in Maratu Island is in around Maratua Paradise Resort.

Best times to go to Maratua
1. the best time to see the most beauty of Maratua is at 11.00 - 14.00. Again the sun light is still as the reason.

I spent two weeks to enjoying the beauty of East Borneo, Indonesia. Starting from visitied Derawan Island, and meet the stingless jellyfish in Kakaban Island, Watched Manta Ray playground, Felt the amazing experience in Labuan Cermin Lake which famous for its unique two-flavor lake water, fresh on the surface and salty at the bottom, with different types of fish coexisting alongside one another. Enjoy the movie !
How To Get There
- Take the flight to Kalimarau Airport, Berau
- Take the travel from Tanjung Redep to Tanjung Batu ( 3 hours). it will cost arount 140.000-160.000/person
- It's better to go there in a group so you can hire a rent car.

Where To Stay
- You can find any kind of accommodation in Derawan Island, the full AC guesthouse usually cost 250.000/room. For the home stay non-ac is around IDR 100.000-150.000/room.
- In Maratua, if you need AC room, it will cost IDR 300.000-500.000, the non-ac one is around IDR 150.000-200.000

the clear blue water of Weh Island
If i have to say 2 words to describe Weh island, the words will go to "Leisure Time". It's obvious that Weh Island is the best place to unwind after a hectic city lifestyle.

Located in western of Indonesia, Weh Island is popular with its big city named Sabang. It needs approximately 3 hours to arrive in Weh Island from Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport, Aceh. There is a nice car ferry and two fast passenger ferries plying the route between Ulee Lhe in Banda Aceh on Pulau Weh. High speed ferries take 45 minutes and the car ferry takes 1,5 hours. They all leave from the new ferry terminal in Ullee Lheue.
1. Fast Ferry depart daily on 09.30 and 16.00
2. Car Ferry depart every Mon, Tues, Thu, Fri on 14.00 and every Wed, Sat, Sun on 11.00 and 16.00
Me and IndonesiaKaya team were directly heading to our hotel in Iboih island. This hotel would be our home for 3 nights. We were welcomed by the wooden bridge floating on the water. Iboih Inn is one of the best accommodation in Weh Island.

The Lobby
The restaurant is the lobby itself, once i arrived at the hotel, i was welcomed by wooden outdoor restaurant with the sea view. As i was too excited went inside the room, my sandals was fall into the sea below the restaurant.

Iboih Inn
Wooden Restaurant at Iboih Inn
The Room
It only has about 8 -10 rooms in tropical concept with full of wood material. The rooms were built on the rock cliff with sea as the view from the balcony. The room size is around 6 meter x 5 meter with king bed size and 1 bath room. My favourite of the room is the hammock which hang down in the balcony.
My favourite spot of the room
Hammock is available on the balcony
Iboih Inn also has 2 types of room.
1. Deluxe room - full service with AC - 500.000-550.000
2. Budget room - fan - 250.000

for more info visit the website http://welcome.iboihinn.com

The View
The special thing of Iboih Inn which others don't have is it has a private natural pool. Trust me, the most clear water of Iboih Island is located in front of Iboih Inn. The wooden port would took us to this very clear water.
Iboih Inn has the direct access to the sea
If you already choose the place to stay in Weh Island, let me take you to another beauties of Weh Island.

Diving In Weh Island
Diving in Weh island
Pulau Weh had been well known for its ecosystem, it is also one of the best diving sites in Indonesia with 20 diving spots. We were separated into 2 dive sites based on our diving skills. The three of us who already have diving license went into West Seulako Dive Sites and those who had their first diving experience went to Rubiah Jetty Dive Sites.
West Seulako Dive Sites
I was on the depth of 23 meter for 47 minutes time duration. The waves on the surface was quite big that day, but we finally made to going deeper. We were welcomed by so many kind of fishes, met a giant sweetlips, passed by a sea fan and the most popular of this dive sites is the cave.
Huge sea fan on West Seulako Dive Sites

Rubiah Jetty Dive Sites
Though i didn't experience this dive sites, but it sounds so fun. For people who want to have first dive experience, this dive sites is very good idea as it contained by sands instead of coral. Because as we know we don't suppose to touch or even kick the corals, this is one of the reason why first time divers have special area and are not allowed to dive deeper than 12 meter. The popular this of Rubiah jetty sites is its car wrecks.
Rubiah Jetty Dive sites is good for first time diver due to its sandy texture

Underwater Volcano in Weh Island
Come to the highlight of the trip, swimming beneath the underwater volcano of Weh Island, surrounded by those bubbles on the depth of 3 meter. You will first feel uncomfortable with the sulfur smell, but you have to try to swim deeper and see how those bubbles weirdly come out from the bottom of the sea.

Snorkeling on Gapang
For snorkeling junkie, this place could become a heaven for you, You will find so many acropora only  1 meter from the surface.

Sumur Tiga Beach
One of the best beach in Weh Island, i finally discovered why it's called Sumur Tiga Beach, because there is a draw well (sumur) located on the beach. This beach has white sand beach and good waves.

Taj Mahal, You Officially Visited India

Congratulation you just officially visited India !
Taj Mahal, India
Oh, the sentence which usually will be given to tourists who just posed and took a photo in front of the iconic Taj Mahal. Even, i spent much times to get the best photo of mine with the Taj background without any people or any tourist bothering on the frame.
Mandatory selfie in front of Taj Mahal
And taraaaa....selfie was accomplished :)

No, i am not gonna tell you why is it named Taj Mahal or the times when it discoverd or other general knowledges, because you can google about it anywhere else. In this post, i am gonna write a story of my journey from 2 different side, the two of them are "What i expected about Taj Mahal" and "How the real Taj Mahal i experienced".
A way to Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal, India
TAJ MAHAL LOCATION
What i expected
I read and did the research before arrived in Agra, the nearest station of Taj Mahal are Agra Fort and Agra Cant. From the station you can take the taxi or rickshaw to reach the taj mahal Area. There are many home stays near the Taj mahal where you only need 10-15 minutes walk to get the Taj.
What i experienced
I arrived in Agra Cant at 19.00 pm, and took a rickshaw for 150rps. There are so many rickshaws parked, but you'd better go to the prepaid counter to get the fix price. The distance itself is only 15 minutes away. Yes it's true there are many homestays near the Taj mahal.
Building on the south of Taj Mahal
Buildings around Taj Mahal was built by stone red
WHERE TO STAY IN TAJ MAHAL
What i expected
the reviewer of my homestays said, the hotel i chose is located only 10 minutes walk to Taj Mahal and by going to the rooftop, the Taj Mahal rooftop was seen.
What i experienced
The hotel where i stayed is "Friends Paying Guest House"
One of the cheap home stays with good review around Taj Mahal, the location is also strategic, the staff who taking care of the guests is the son of the owner, named "Bilal". He's still young and have a big interest of cultural exchange. The room itself is quite good for price only $95/night with non-ac (fan only). I choose non-ac because i thought it's only 1 night stay, and we already arrived late on the night though. After the long journey of 25 hours on the train (read the story here), i directly went to the bathroom once i finished the check in process. It was really hot, and for the first time of my life i blamed myself to choose the non-ac room. Oh God, it was extremely very hot even when i have finished showering, i was still sweaty.

For the guest house information you can click this link
Queueing to enter the Taj Mahal
TAJ MAHAL CULTURE
What i expected
As i know, India is a country which popular by its Hindu majority inhabitant.
What i experienced
When i arrived in Agra and did the check in process on my guest house, the officer said that the person in charge of this guest house (which is his brother) is now at the mosque and will be back come to me soon. Few minutes later, he came back with a muslim outfit. You also will hear adzan from the nearest mosque 5 times in a day as how muslims pray in a day.

HOW IS TAJ MAHAL
What i expected
I once wondered that Taj Mahal is such a very holy mosque. I even heard that taking picture is not allowed inside the building. As the building looks like all in white design, i imagined how majestic the interior would be, it might be that spacious one with dome roof. Since i am not a muslim, i always curious when entering other religion praying place. Well, i once expected the same feeling as i entered to Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta would come. But then...
What i experienced
I got a little bit disappointed as what i saw and experienced is not as i expected. I was welcomed by a very huge gate, the Taj Mahal is 400 meters away from the main gate. I can saw it's really beautiful even only from the gate. The popular pond in front of the building looked as beautiful as on people's photos. I walked through the very clean garden. The surrounding of Taj Mahal is very well maintained, no rubbish found, even the grass and plants looks so fresh.
View from Taj Mahal, a very nice garden.
Interior of the Taj Mahal
As i paid for the ticket, i were given 1 cold bottle mineral water (it was very hot in Agra, trust me) and two pair of footwear cover to cover my shoes, so i did not need to take off my shoes.
It was a little bit crowded inside the Taj Mahal, i went inside through the main gate, there was an inner chamber where Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal grave were located. There were so many people took pictures and tried to put their hands inside the chamber. It was dark, not bright as i expected before, the marble was also cream instead of white. And it didn't look like that spacious one, and oh yeah everyone was busy taking selfie inside the building, eventhough there is a sign of no camera allowed and there were some officers oversee the visitors, it is still so easy to see people taking picture including myself.

HOW TO REACH TAJ MAHAL
What i expected
I once read while doing a blogwalking, that i'd better to hire a half-day trip rickshaw since it's quite far to reach the Taj Mahal from the entrance gate by walking. When i just arrived at the guest house on the night, i still remember, the rickshaw driver who ride me from the station waited me on the lobby. I got confused since i already paid the fee, and then i asked him "is there anything else?" then he answered "how about tomorrow ? have you hire a rickshaw for taj mahal tour?" he described how the tour would be with some photos he has. He offered me for a half-day tour with 2000 rps.
What i experienced
I followed what my guest house officer said, that it's only 10 minutes walk to Taj Mahal from the guest house, and i did not need to hire the rickshaw. Well since, i was really on the tight budget, i prefer to explore by myself. A full day in Agra only for enjoying Taj Mahal by walking.

A backpacking journey of India. From the old town Kolkata, the holy Agra, the busy New Delhi, the hippies place of Manali, the amazing Leh Ladakh, Diversity culture of Kashmir were covered in 3 minutes Incredible India video. Enjoy the movie !

Mount Rinjani, Lombok, Indonesia
You said that you really like blending to nature but you haven’t been to Mount Rinjani ? You said that you are Indonesian but you don’t know what is the most beautiful mountain in Indonesia ? You said that you are a mountain addict but you haven’t place your feet on the Kingdom of Anjani land ?

Well, those questions are the things which came up on my mind when decided to write a story about this very beautiful mountain. From the height of 3768 meters above sea level, welcome to the Kingdom of  goddess Anjani, Mount Rinjani, September 2015. This is my journey on the third highest mountain of Indonesia. And then, let the photos speak and show you those beauties.
I heard a lot more compliments about Mount Rinjani rather than complaints. Well, i used to neglect someone who talk about how hard it was to be on the top and on the other hand trying to be pretty excited to hear about how worth their hard works were once it's done.
The pick up car from Mataram to Sembalun Village which will ride us for about 3 hours.
The day was finally coming after my 2 nights presence in Lombok. It started on the early morning. Me, Asoka, Ayub, Dina and Anggey were waiting on the place where we would be picked up by the car. This pick up car will bring us to the basecamp of Mount Rinjani where we will start the journey.
The agents of the summit. Thank you for the inadvertently lot of supports guys. love <3
Three hours time spent from Mataram (the capital city of Lombok) to the Sembalun Basecamp. This basecamp is the last place where you can find the proper toilet. So, you might be spend some few minutes here before the journey of wild life starts. Haha.

DAY 1
Basecamp Sembalun – Rest stop I (45 minutes)
This welcome gate is a sign of the starting point of the long route upcoming ahead. We started from the basecamp at 01.00 pm, it was too late to reach the Plawangan Sembalun where used to be the last campsite before the summit hence we planned to stay on campsite 3 on our first day. It was a pretty flat and enjoyable walk surrounded by some breathtaking view and golden grassland with quite cloudly sky looking out the fog blocked the hills view.
Took a rest on 7 hills of regret
Rest Stop I – Rest stop II (1 hour)
Still on the same trek on the open savannah. One hour passed to reach rest stop II. We lied our body on the gazebo and we saw the garbage issue, with piles of old trash covering the ground near the shelters. It was difficult to understand how someone could just throw their garbage without considering the long term consequences on the environment.
Rest Stop II – Rest Stop III (1,5 hour)
The day was getting darker, at 05.00 pm we finally reached the last stop to build our tents. Glad to know there was only other 2 groups at the same area. So it wasn’t really crowded that time. We really loved the weather, not that cold  as we  had our dinner outside the tents.

this photo has successfully described how messy it was when we were cooking.
DAY 2
Rest Stop III – Plawangan Sembalun (6 hours)
It was started at 11.00 am, the days before we were here, we heard a lot about the most difficult trek of Mt. Rinjani. It’s well known called as “7 bukit penyesalan” or “7 hills of regret”. The reason why it is called as it is because there will be 7 ups and down hills which requires the hikers to climb up, go down and then climb up again repeatedly for 7 times.
Arrived at Plawangan Sembalun
I was trying to count down the rest of the hills I have to climb after finished the previous one. But, I didn’t find that they would be finished climbing up for 7 times, at the same time I also wondered where are those “down” lands ? there were only up, up and up again. Anggey said “do not ever count down the hills, because it’s only make your step heavier”
It should be only 5-6 hours spent to reach Plawangan Sembalun (the last campsite before summit), but we spent like 8 hours as we really enjoyed the times, we took photos and videos a lot, even we spent 1 hour reposed our body to laughed and joked around.
Plawangan Sembalun with its foggy view
Plawangan Sembalun (Last campsite before summit)
Here is the last check point before the summit, we eventually arrived at the ridge where we were to camp that day. We were welcomed by the sun which beautifully set behind the Segara Anak lake. Plawangan Sembalun has very beautiful scenery, we can see Segara Anak Lake from above. That’s why for some people whose are not their first time visiting Rinjani, they prefer to stay in Plawangan Sembalun and not going to go for summit attack.
Our first sunset with Segara Anak Lake view.
When we finally arrived here, there were so many tents already built up. The sound of yelling like “do you want hot chocolate or hot tea?” were very often heard or the smells of chicken curry which were being cooked by the porter.  They looked so delicious even though were only cooked on limited cooking properties. This is one of the benefits of having a porter, you don’t need to worry about food, sleep, and heavy stuffs you have to bring, because they will be ready once you need.
Plawangan Sembalun from above
As the night come over, the milky way presented itself to us while we were cooking in front of the tent. I set up my tripod, mounted my camera, took this photo and stared at the universe in wonder.
Our first milkyway scenery in Mount Rinjani
Can't stop stargazing even the wind freeze so cold.
Day 3
Summit attack to the top of Mount Rinjani
It used to start at 02.00 am on the night in order to see the beautiful sunrise on the top. There will normally be 4-5 hours spent to be on the top. One of the reason why you are not allowed to do the summit attack too late because the afternoon time on the summit are quite dangerous as there will be strong winds blows.
After 30 minutes of stone and sand stairs, you will see this view.
The sunrise has been over, now the sky was turning into blue !
But, we were late or we slept too tight hence we just started at 04.30 am, it was freaking late I think but don’t worry we could catch up the best time. It was still dark at the moment, we were using our headlamp for sure. First trek will be stairs made by stones and soils for 30 minutes, and then you will arrive on larger ground. On this spot you can easily see Plawangan Sembalun from above and Segara Anak Lake also looked more clear. The summit of Mt. Rinjani was also could easily seen, it looked so close anyway.
Segara Anak Lake from the summit of Mount Rinjani
When we continued walking, we met a couple of foreigners walked on the opposite way. I asked them “how was on the top?” but they said “we didn’t make to the top, because it still far and the trek was frustrating” Well okay, the summit really looked so close but it was actually not !

The trek has the S shape to reach the summit. The trail got even steeper and the more I climbed, the more I had to stop and took a deep breath. I guess this is what it’s like climbing a sand dune as high as a mountain. Given the volcanic gravel, the climb consisted of regularly climbing two steps forward only to slide at least one back.  It took about four hours to make it all the way to the top with freezing winds pelting me the whole way.  It was a mental and physical battle to the top.

We finally made to the top of Mount Rinjani
Summit Mount Rinjani 3768 masl
Hey hey….we finally here, on the Summit of Mount Rinjani. We successfully reached the top at 09.00 am. Four hours to make it all the way to the top. The clear blue sky, the ocean clouds and absolutely the surreal view !
Doing a Yoga posed on the summit, coz standing on the edge was so last year.
The land of the goddess Anjani has proven that it still the most beautiful mountain in Indonesia with all the views along the way, all the hard works were paid off. Mount Agung in Bali, the mountain Roared in Banyuwangi and mount Tambora on Sumbawa is clearly visible when the weather is nice in the morning. Another life experience of mine were top up.
This was taken at 10.00 am
There were only 2 groups including mine on the top, another one coming from one community, they made a very noisy voices of having a group photo. Some of them were proudly hold papers with greetings written on. But when they finally went down 30 minutes later after our arrival, the summit was all ours. No one else climbing up because yeah it was already too bright to be there.
As me and Asoka planned, we finally celebrated our birthday togetehr on the summit. Asoka (17 August), Kadek (17 September). Please do not ask about what age we were turning on. Well not that old btw.
That "Gosh!" feeling of standing above the clouds
The journey of going down only took 2 hours descend down the trail, the ashes blown so bad as I need to use the mask and sun glasses. And make sure you wear the hat to cover the direct sunlight onto your face. We arrived at the tent around 01.00 pm, had our lunch and took a rest before continue the way to the lake 2 hours later.
Favourite spot to get a magnificent shot !

How To get There
Mataram city to Sembalun Village (3 hours).  If you are in a group you'd better to hire a rent car (pick up car) to bring all your belongings also. It cost IDR 200.000 for two ways.
- The ticket price is IDR 2.500/persn/night for local and IDR 20.000/person/night for foreigner
- Porter fee is 300.000/porter/night (for your consideration, you might have 2 porter for a group of more than 2 people)
- Logistic purchased cost around 300.000/person for 4 nights. (it depends on what you want to eat)
- Hotel in Mataram rats is around 150.000-250.000. I recommend you to stay in Hotel Arca due to its very strategic location near the mataram mall where there are many food stalls exist. And you might need a good place to relax after the super exhausted trekking days, this place is affordable yet worth to pay.

To be continue to Part II...

6 Things You Have to Prepare Before Trekking to Mount Rinjani

Before the story goes to the next stage, let me tell you guys about porter and related stuffs which you have to concern before the days start. These things are pretty important because they will affect your long term journeys. My team was planning to have a full Rinjani trip, it usually starts from Sembalun Village to the summit, and then going down to Segara Anak Lake and going back through Senaru Trek, so it will be approximately spent like 5 days 4 night. Are you now wondering how much logistics we have to bring to cover the whole days ? That’s why this one becomes the first point of the most important things you have to prepare before starting the Mount Rinjani Trip.

1. Porter
This is exactly what you must prepare very well. As I said above, this will affect your journeys. By paying the porter, it means you will be received a full service, you don’t need to worry about food, sleep, and other personal stuffs you need to carry. This number one list will be pretty much worth to pay if you aim to enjoy the fresh air, beautiful view, and taking picture. Well, at least they will decrease your burdens. There are so many travel agents which offer such full packages of Mt. Rinjani. They usually offer some alternative packages, it depends on how many days you wanna choose. Since I didn’t use any agency, here’s some top lists I browsed whose very popular for this kind of thing.
The team on Sembalun trek
Porter for foreigners
JOHN¨S ADVENTURE: (DELUXE SERVICE = 209 euros)
GALANG IJO: (PRIVATE DELUXE = 184 + 9 (western union) = 193 euros)
RINJANI TREK CLUB (STANDARD SERVICE = 175 5 (paypal commision) 15 (previous hotel) = 195 euros)
The prices of all of them are more or less similar and based on the review I browsed, all of the were very polite and helpful.
Porter for Indonesian
  • If you are on tight budget, you can use this method like I did.
  • Local porter : 300.000 IDR/person/night (the standard is for 4 person we need to hire 2 porters. The porter will bring our logistic such as foods, water, tents.)
  • Logistic for 4 nights : 200.000/IDR/Person (this is very ordinary menu, do not imagine of having a chicken curry, or roasted chicken as some foreigners have for eating.
  • The rest is, you have to bring your personal belongings
  • It’s really much cheaper but I don’t recommend this to foreigners, since its limited standard of serving.
2. Choose the routes
There are some routes that you have to consider before going for Rinjani trip. Choosing where you should start the journey is honestly quite tricky, but we can start with the place which mostly hiked by tourists. Sembalun village is the most popular. Even though, it has longer track, the journey would be more enjoyable due to its flat trek.
Sembalun trekk with the grassland view
Another one is, Senaru which usually be the last track to descend down the trail. Meanwhile, it’s 700 meter shorter than Sembalun, but the trek is freaking harder, step and slippery. Senaru also has different kind of view which mostly contained by tropical rainforest.

3. Standard Hiking gears
The Rinjani mountain is the third highest peak active volcano in Indonesia and absolutely a challenging mountain walk and you must be prepared with good equipments, warm and windproof clothing if you want to make adventure trekking to the summit of rinjani mountain 3726 m.
Wind breaker jacket– try to looking for this kind of jacket will probably so much helpful especially on the night. Plawangan Sembalun where the camp would be built are located on 2000 masl. You have to not only concern about the temperature degree but also the strong wind, particularly on your upcoming summit attack.
Sleeping bag and mattress – this is like a mandatory thing of hiking gears, used in order to make your sleep tightly in a tent.
Shoes– Anything footwear you can use, please do not ever use sandals because it would be a very long journey, using sandals will just only evoke such a new problem, either the scratched feet or broken sandals. If you don’t have hiking shoes, running shoes would be okay.
Proper Clothes – Don’t bring too many clothes, just make sure those ones which would be used more. For example, for 5D4N, I brought 1 jacket, 1 sweater, 1 long-sleeves shirt, 2 t-shirt or you probably need long-john (it’s actually very useful to reduce cold), 2 leggings (both of them are for trekking), 1 trousers (this one especially for sleep), 3 pair of socks, 1 raincoat, 1 buff, 1 scarf, 1 hat, and 1 sandal. Those mentioned above are pretty much enough.
Hiking Bag– It’s actually one of my friends problem. Well she did not hike much before hence she thought she didn’t need to buy a hiking carrier. It’s totally a bad idea, because hiking carrier is specially made for hikers, this would be affect on how you carry your loads on your spine.
Trekking Pole– it’s not the essential things, but you’d need it so much when you climb up the summit. Given the volcanic gravel, the climb consisted of regularly climbing two steps forward only to slide at least one back. And use only one is already good enough.

4. Physics and Mental – Do some exercises at least 2 months before the day. Along with the physics issue, Mental is also needed. Prepare your mental, and believe yourself that nothing is impossible and ensure that miracle will never exist in this case. The one that would brought you to the top and finish the line is only yourself, no one else.
The summit trek on Mt. Rinjani
You probably would said that you were tired either on the half way of the journey or even on the few hours before the journey finishes. And that would be the moment when you had to convince yourself to stop complaining and keep walking. It’s just a glimpse mind of a spoiled human being. After all of these over, you’re going to prove it that your limit is beyond expectation and proudly say “I finally made it”

5. Camera– Please never say that you are not good enough of taking a photo because you are not required to be a good photographer for only keep the moments onto pictures. “Oh i don’t wanna be too busy taking picture hence I cannot enjoy the view”, that’s bullshit, you’re not gonna let those moments fade away without any proof, right ?
Breathtaking view on the top of Mt. Rinjani !
So bring your camera for at least doing a selfie on the summit or take a photo of you with the magnificent Segara Anak Lake as the background.

6. Pray– the last but not least is praying. Remember, how perfect you have prepared everything, you would not be able to change the destiny. Pray for the good things and asked for the bad things to be disappear.
Never Stop Dreaming and Keep Chasing.
Congratulation, you’ve just read these things before trekking to Mount Rinjani, because you just read what the experience person wrote. Now make a check list and do those things. Nature always has wide open door for its lovers, but remember that nature is not only yours, it’s ours. Please keep it safe, and never hurt it.

Welcoming Melting Pot Restaurant to Indonesia means a good news for Jakartan who has been looking for the fondue restaurant in town ! Now you do not have to be confused since the fondue time is now you could get in the busy business area of Jakarta. Located in Plaza Senayan 5th floor, Melting Pot has opened as a franchise of the Nort'h America Preier Fodue Restaurant since 1975. It's so proud to know that Indonesia has been listed in 130 restaurants of Melting Pot World wide branches.

So, it was my first time eating fondue, i honestly got no idea how to eat in a good way. But, i no longer worried since at the first time i arrived and had a seat, there was a guy with well dressed uniform approached me and took care of the eating process. Yeah, he would be our chef. What wait ? what did the chef do on the dining table ?  All foods and ingredients are served on raw, it's quite same with Shabu Shabu, the difference is we have to grab the food using long-stemmed fork from the boiled pan.

Basically, we can choose to try the A La Carte, Fondue By You, and 4-course Experience. Prices range from IDR 50.000 to IDR 700.000/person. Do you know what is the best way to choose the menu item ? Let the chef do it ! haha. The most recommended is 4-course Experience. There were 4 course experiences and all of them served by fondue except for the salad.

1. Cheese Fondue (IDR 108.000/person)
First level was the appetizer, i tried cheddar. The process of making the cheese sauce was quite unique for me because i saw the beer poured on.

Yes yes, beside the cheddar or Emmenthaler Swiss cheese itself as the main component, there were also lager beer, garlic and seasonings. Done with the sauce, let's get started with the breads, tortilla and vegetable put on ! My favorites were broccoli and tortilla. np : recipe can be made without alcohol upon request.

2. Salads (IDR 68.000)
Melting Pot house salad was one of the good option for salad ! As the name called it, this one was the special menu of Melting Pot. Mix of crisp romaine and iceberg lettuce, cheddar cheese, fresh tomatoes, crispy croutons, and sliced egg finished with choice of Peppercorn Ranch Dressing or sweet and tangy House Dressing.

 3. Entrees (IDR 488.000)
Come to the main course, Entrees course arrived unprepared, creating the interactive dining experience. I tried the classic entree, it served Premium U.S fillet mignon, herb-crusted chicken, black tiger prawns, memphis-style chicken, and teriyaki-marinated ribeye. My favorite is the ribeye with teriyaki sauce and Memphis-style chicken.

For the entrée, we can choose one of the premium cooking styles from 4 options and I tried the Seasoned Court Bouillon, which is a complimentary non-alcoholic cooking style. And also, there was another way to eat the entree beside the boiled water, we also can choose the deep frying ! yep, all thos emats i mentioned above would be eaten with crispy taste in your mouth. The were 6 different sauces from cheesy sauces, ginger sauce, teriyaki sauce, even chili sauce, curry sauce. My favorites are teriyaki sauce, curry sauce and as always as the cheese lover, cheesy sauce !

4. Chocolate Fondue
Complete your experience by dipping fresh fruits and sweet pastries into any of decadent chocolate recipes. The chocolate fondue recipe featuring, milk, dark and white chocolate. The milk-chocolate came in Ying & Yang pattern.

Though i tried both milk chocolate and peanut chocolate, i prefer to peanut chocolate as it was lees sweet than the milk chocolate. Looking for more sweeter, milk-chocolate would be your best dessert fondue choice ! The sweet fondue served with this platter of fruits, cakes, marshmallow to dip in. My favorites were classic strawberry, and melon !

The venue appearance is my most concerned of restaurant. Well the venue looks excellent in semi fine dining concept. The seats are mostly could cover a group of people as it was designed for people who would like to have a chit-chat time with friends and partners while having a dip fondue. There were also the more private seats surrounded by marbles hanging from the ceiling. All wrapped in a good experience, my first fondue taste really marked the good memories, would have to try another fondue experience for sure !

I still remember how did i get to Segara Anak Lake. This trek was listed on number 2 most frustrating route i have done of the whole Rinjani journeys. It did not took a long time and less difficult than the summit trek, not really the bad one unless you had to do and finished it on the same day with summit attack.

Gunung Bromo Status Waspada, 2015
